It was 1994. We were living in Key West, Florida, ironically in a house named Casa Gato or Cat House. Cats are a major part of the Key West culture, stemming mostly from Hemmingway's six-toed varieties but also from the large feral population.
Our oldest son, Brandon, who's nickname was Bubba wanted a cat for a pet. He was seven at that time, so we thought it would be a good way for him to learn some responsibility. A friend and co-worker had just taken in a stray who just had a litter of 5 kittens. We went to check them out and Brandon wanted this cute little brown/grey tabby. Bubba Junior was now a member of our house and was "Bubba's Cat".
His twin sister, Missy (short for Mischief), a Havana Brown (nearly black for all practial purpouses) attached to me and we took both into our house. Bubba Junior was a mouth full so he became known as either "B.J." or "Beej".
Beej has brought plenty of joy to our household over the years. He passed into the kitteh after-life July 19th, 2010 around 5:20 pm via euthenasia. B. J. You will be missed.
There will be no more chasing laser pointers or doing back flips chasing the cat wand. You won't grace my camera any longer, so this site will be your memorial.
